Overview
In order to connect your BitScan device to Elda(Chrome) it needs to first be enabled on your WIFI network.
Before you Begin
Connect your BitScan device to the 5V power supply provided in the box. A new or non-connected device should be in Access Point (AP) Mode. The device screen will indicate "AP mode" followed by the device's individual MAC Address.
- The top light should be off.
- Middle light should be flashing green.
- Bottom should be solid green.
If your BitScan device displays an IP Address (eg. 10.1.66.143), it is already connected to a WIFI network. If required, please see our article on Resetting a BitScan Device.
Connect a BitScan (2nd Gen) Device to WIFI
With the BitScan in AP Mode, you can directly connect to the device via WIFI. The BitScan (2nd Gen) WIFI Access Point is HF-A11x_AP
1. From your PC or mobile device, connect the HF-A11x_AP WIFI network. (Settings > WIFI)
2. Open your device’s web browser and navigate to the address http://10.10.100.254 and enter the following information:
- SSID for your required WIFI network
- WIFI network password
3. Select Apply and Restart
The screen on the BitScan (2nd Gen) will display “Connecting ...”
If the connection is successful, the device will display its MAC address and currently assigned IP Address, eg. MAC: bcddc24fbf9b and IP:172.16.10.218
If the connection is unsuccessful, the device will notify you of the error:
- If the network SSID is incorrect the device will display “NO AP FOUND!”
- If the WIFI Password is incorrect, the device will display “WRONG PASSWORD!”
In either instance, the device will need to be reset before you can reattempt device setup.
Please see our article: Resetting a BitScan Device.
Ensure you Reserve the Device's IP Address on your Network
Once the BitScan device is configured and has been successfully connected to your required WIFI network, please follow your organisation's standard methods for reserving the device's allocated IP Address on your network. This will ensure your device will maintain it's address in the event of a network reset.
Setting Up the Scanner in Elda(Chrome)
Once you have have your device setup on a reserved IP Address, you'll need to enter the device and corresponding IP Address in the Elda(Chrome) database.
