Background
In Outlook, you can add a hyperlink to the contents of your signature like the email address and contact number. In this article, we'll provide the step-by-step process on how to add a hyperlink to the contact number of your signature.
Any recipient of your email within the organization may then just click on the phone number on your signature and a prompt like the below from Teams with your phone number will be displayed.
Before You Begin
- If you already have an existing signature created, you may continue with the steps below. Else, please see article Create and Add a Signature to Email Messages (Outlook App).
Steps to follow
-
On the top left corner of the Outlook app, click New Email.
-
On the Message menu, select Signature > Signatures.
Depending on the size of your Outlook window and whether you're composing a new email message or a reply or forward, the Message menu and the Signature button might be in two different locations.
-
Under Select signature to edit, choose the signature you want to update.
-
Highlight your contact number then click Insert Link (top right below Edit Signature).
-
On the Address bar, type callto: then the contact number without special characters except the plus (+) sign. This will create a hyperlink to your signature that will enable users to call your number directly once they click your number.
Ex: if your contact number is (+61) 8 6373 3370, input it in the Address bar as callto:+61863733370.
-
Your contact number should now be highlighted indicating that there's a hyperlink attached to it. Then click OK to save the updated signature.
