How to Set up BitConnect Device with an MEP Machine.

Background

This Knowledge Base Article provides step-by-step instructions on how to set up a BitConnect Device on an  MEP 2E Machine aswell as an MEP New Machine.

Before you begin

• Ensure to check which MEP machines require a BitConnect connection. 
• For more information on BitConnect devices. See our article Introduction to the BitConnect device for more.
• Ensure you have plugged in the wifi antenna and power cable to the correct ports (Ensure to keep the power turned off during this process).
• Connect the network-serial cable to the Bitconnect device's serial port. (Ensure to keep the power turned off during this process).

• Locate the MEP machine's port locations to connect the BitConnect device. (The location of the Serial port varies from MEP machine to machine).
  

Set up a BitConnect on an MEP MICRO 2E Machine 

1. Locate the  COM1 port on an old MEP MICRO 2E machine. Then connect the  BitConnect Serial Cable to the  COM1 Port on the MEP MICRO 2E Machine.
   PLEASE NOTE: You will need to get open the cover for the main port panel.
   
   
   
2. Power on the BitConnect device. The BitConnect device will indicate power is applied and begin to start up.

Set up a BitConnect Device via the Rear Panel of a New MEP Machine

1. Locate and open the Rear Panel of the New MEP machine.
   
   
2. Locate and open the ports panel.
   
   PLEASE NOTE: Make use of the SER1 Port to connect the BitConnect Cable.
   
   
   
3. Power on the BitConnect device. The BitConnect device will indicate power is applied and begin to start up.

Set up a BitConnect via the Front Control Panel of a New  MEP Machine

1. Locate the Port panel under the main Control Panel. Then connect the BitConnect Cable to the New MEP Machine's Serial Port.
   
   
2. Power on the BitConnect device. The BitConnect device will indicate power is applied and begin to start up.
